Avenzo Therapeutics
Develops selective small molecule inhibitors and bispecific ADCs for oncology
Avenzo dosed the first patient in its CDK4-plus-CDK2-plus-fulvestrant combination cohort for HR+ breast cancer.

Two CDK stories in one week, and this is the better-funded one. CDK4/6 inhibitors reshaped HR-positive breast cancer, but CDK6 bruises the blood and tumors escape by cranking up CDK2. Avenzo's answer is to split the target: a selective CDK4, a selective CDK2, and fulvestrant, dosed together for the first time in the ORION-1 combination cohort. The pedigree matters. This is Athena Countouriotis and roughly 45 Turning Point veterans, the team that sold to Bristol Myers Squibb for 4.1 billion dollars. Watch the AVZO-021 update at ASCO 2026 for whether the single agent earns the combination.
