Synklino
Develops fusion protein therapies to eliminate cytomegalovirus in transplant recipients
Synklino's SYN002 entered Phase 1, clearing latent CMV from donor kidneys before transplant.

CMV is the infection that haunts transplant medicine. Antivirals like letermovir keep it quiet, but they can't clear the latent virus hiding in infected cells, so it waits and reactivates. Synklino's idea is to go after the reservoir directly, and to do it before the organ is even in the patient. SYN002 is a fusion protein that recognizes US28, a viral receptor on latently infected cells, and kills them. They perfuse it through the donor kidney during prep. Preclinically that cut reactivation over 90%. It's a first patient, with six months of monitoring ahead, so watch the reactivation rate.
